In the future, companies that supply ship equipment for outward bound ships will also be recognized as export performance. As a result, financial and tax benefits provided to exporters will also be availed of.

KTNET said, “From the 17th, we will start to issue the certificates of purchase confirmation and export performance for the first time for companies that supply ship equipment.”

This is a follow-up measure after the Ministry of Trade, Industry, & Energy announced “the use of improved measures of the recognition policy for the export performance of supplying ship equipment” at the 5th expanded trade strategy coordination meeting in October last year, and the foreign trade management regulations governing this were implemented from January of this year.

Ship equipment is daily necessities or accessories necessary for ship operation. Among them, the articles supplied to outward bound ships were realistically the same as exports. Still, they were not incorporated into the export performance, so the industry for such articles has been left out of various support policies for exporters.

Ship article providers can receive direct export performance recognition from the Korea International Trade Association with this measure. Ship article providers that supply goods to shipping companies can receive indirect export performance by receiving a purchase confirmation through KTNET.

It is expected that ship article providers will be able to receive various export support services such as trade finance, trade insurance, customs refunds, VAT exemptions, reward export performance evaluation on the trade day, etc., so that the ship articles industry will be further boosted.

CEO of KTNET said, “As recognizing the performance of supplying ship equipment as export performance has been a long-awaited aim in the ship equipment industry, KTNET plans to improve its services continuously, so that providers of ship equipment can receive the issuance of confirmation of purchase and indirect export performance recognition conveniently.”
